I think its fine to make fun of this stuff, Chinese actually do make fun of foreign Chinese too, there are plenty or Chinese blogs doing exactly the same as this in reverse.

I don't mean its fine for us to make fun of them because they do it to us, I mean its just humour and not meant to hurt anyone, it works both ways.

My English is better than any Chinese guys English, and so it damn well should be because its my first language. My Chinese on the other hand although fluent will never be on par with someone born and raised in China, and no one expects it to be.

What I find stupid, is that the Chinese government spent millions of US dollars on public signage, but didnt want to spend the extra 500 dollars on having a foreign student in one of the universities check the English. Now, they have to replace all those signs before the Olympics in 2008 and its going to cost them a hell of a lot (not that they care its, the 'peoples' money). Now that IS typical short sighted Chinese culture, save money now even if it screws you up later and ends up costing 3x as much (I've lived in China for the past 10 years and see it everyday in various forms).

Oh and to any Chinese who want to complain, no this doesn't mean I hate your country and should go back home, but thanks for the tip.

My mind's question is really like being answered by a sorcerer. Early this morning i asked my self if who are those other people who laugh on English Mistakes, because honestly here in our country, there are very mean people who laugh on other's mistake (english grammar and pronunciation). Well when i visited this site, I am somehow answered though litereally no one is laughing here. I am a pure Filipina who loves Chinese Culture. I can say that there's nothing wrong in committing mistakes, anyway no one is perfect you know. It is better to try and to be wrong than not trying at all. Me, myself on the other hand is trying to speak and sing in chinese. To tell you honestly my Chinese is really not good and it's embarrassing. But i know it's alright. When I came to know few friends of mine from Xi'an, I realized that Chinese are really friendly and kind. They are really patient specially in teaching me about the chinese pronunciations. I wanna shout to the world, LET'S NOT LAUGH OR MAKE FUN OF FEW CHIGLISH. CHINESE PEOPLE ARE GREAT AND KIND. So to end this, I'll just say that FOREIGN LANGUAGE CAN BE LEARNED AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE GUTS AND DETERMINATION (^_^)

When you know Chinese more, you can accept their English. We have totally different culture but we learnt English ONLY from the Books. Either we are teachers or students. But China always keep on changing. We can achieve these change by people visit. You can see so many Chinese are traveling around the world and so many English-speaking people are coming to China. We also find it funny to hear the exotic Chinese spoken by people with other cultures. But we don't think it is silly and we always friendly help them and teach them. That is the Chinese- a kind Nationality. Those spelling mistake probably come from a typist who never speak or read English. In China a lot of low-educated people type as a typist. They won't check the spelling even it is the very obvious mistake. We use English letters for decoration but not for reading as a public sign.

As for the margarine, there is actually a brand of margarine in western countries called "I can't believe it's not a butter". However in this case, the copycat did its work poorly.
